Kufunda Learning Village
Welcome to Kufunda Village, a resource for the World! We are an intentional community living in our village on the outskirts of Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. Our mission is to inspire the co-creation of strong life affirming communities in Zimbabwe and beyond by demonstrating and sharing the necessary ideas, skills and practices that are required for community sustainability and nourishment.

Kufunda as Host
Kufunda Village practices the Art of Hosting as an operating system. We offer our village and ourselves as hosts not only to our partner communities but also to other individuals and organisations as a place of reflection, retreat and healing.
Changes in our Structures
We are entering a new and exciting phase of Kufunda's life, as Kufundees step more fully into holding Kufunda as a whole as well as managing finances and day to day activities. By the end of July a new Village Council will be in place, and we look forward to sharing our learnings as we own our leadership.
New Transformer for Kufunda
After four months without any electricity at all we managed to buy a new transformer to replace the one burnt out by lightning in January. This has severely depleted our coffers but at least we have electricity restored - although there are frequent power cuts. We are still fundraising to become more energy self sufficient with solar and other forms of energy, and hope that by 2010 we will be much less dependent on the national grid.
News from our partner communities
In November last year we got together with our rural partners to plan 2009. We are working together this year in different action areas. One of those is organic farming. With the help of a community farmer - Mr Mberengwa from Zvimba, we toured all our partner communities in May to identify a communal field and start preparations towards planting once the rains come. This marks the start of a new way of co-operation with community to community sharing and learning. At the end of last year we were able to distribute non hybrid seed maize to our communities. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to that effort. The harvest has been bountiful in most places and people are feeling much more secure about food this year. Also there will be seed to plant for the coming season. We have just completed a three day workshop with our community partners and are planning more workshops in the communities themselves during the rest of the year. It is time to spread our work further in the communities themselves and more people can participate if we hold workshops within the communities.
