BIODYNAMIC FARMING
We are committed to regenerating and fostering a healthy and sustainable relationship with the land and natural environment. in 2018 we expanded our organic practice to include Biodynamics.
This includes keeping as large tracts of the land as possible as woodland, wetland, and grassland respectively. In this way, we are not opening up new areas, but rather better utilising existing, although depleted, farm land; and seeking to preserve the increasingly under pressure environment from illegal fire wood harvesting, regular uncontrolled bush fires, and poaching of the slim remaining wildlife in the area.
Operating as a Biodynamic organism we see and treat Kufunda as an individual whole, with most of what we need for farming coming from the farm itself - manure, compost, mulch, fodder for the animals - and developing biodynamic preparations to replenish the soil and assist the plants.

BEING A DEMONSTRATION FARM
SHARING OUR LEARNING WITH ALL GENERATIONS
Being a demonstration farm we are a place of learning for the community, and beyond. We offer regular farming workshops - ranging from basics of compost making to the practice of Biodynamic Farming.
We are also a school farm, integrating the school children and their parents in our learning and production. Each class (from grade 3) have their own beds growing their own vegetables.
We have a vision of becoming a biodynamic resource centre for Zimbabwe through our training, outreach and supply of biodynamic farming preparations. This will take time, but the seeds have been planted and partnerships are being built locally and internationally.

Ticha loves horses, and enjoys working with them. The horses became a pathfinder in his life as they brought him to the KUFUNDA learning village where he started to know himself and discover his passion. Through his early days at KUFUNDA he discovered that he carries a deep desire to heal the land. He believes that the land is a living organism that needs to be treated with respect and care. He has embraced Biodynamic Farming in which every plant and animal, the sun, the moon and all the stars in the sky form part of a great living universe of which the farm organism is a part. Biodynamics works with biodynamic preparations, which stimulate processes whereby the physical substance of the earth can be enlivened and the plants can receive what streams from the stars.
Ticha’s dream is to work with communities so that they can sustain themselves using this way of farming which is not harmful to the earth and is healthy to humans. He is enjoying working in the new school garden with the school children. He believes that he learns everyday - from nature and from others. He gets lifted with the circles and inner work happening at Kufunda.
